Der s\u00fcdkoreanische Konzern gilt als f\u00fchrender Hersteller f\u00fcr solche flexiblen Bildschirme, und eine Zusammenarbeit mit Apple war bereits l\u00e4nger im Gespr\u00e4ch. Aktuelle Hinweise legen nahe, dass die Panels 2026 in Serie gehen sollen \u2014 p\u00fcnktlich f\u00fcr einen m\u00f6glichen Marktstart im Herbst 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faltbare Displays sind teuer und komplex zu fertigen; nur wenige Hersteller verf\u00fcgen \u00fcber die n\u00f6tigen Kapazit\u00e4ten, gro\u00dfe St\u00fcckzahlen zu liefern. Branchenanalyst Ming-Chi Kuo berichtet, das Display-Design stehe bereits, und Samsung plane ab Juni 2025 die Fertigung von Panels der sogenannten 8.6-Generation. F\u00fcr 2026 rechnet Samsung demnach mit sieben bis acht Millionen gefertigten Einheiten \u2014 womit die Erstlieferungen f\u00fcr den Marktstart gedeckt w\u00e4ren. Weitere Produktionsausbauten ab 2027 sind zu erwarten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auch Samsung selbst hat Hinweise auf eine Massenproduktion geliefert: Laut dem s\u00fcdkoreanischen Magazin ChosunBiz sagte Lee Cheong, Pr\u00e4sident von Samsung Display, man treibe die Vorbereitungen f\u00fcr die Massenfertigung von OLEDs f\u00fcr faltbare Smartphones voran, die an einen nordamerikanischen Kunden geliefert werden sollen \u2014 offenbar Apple. Die 8.6-Generation verwendet ein gr\u00f6\u00dferes Glas-Substrat, was die Produktion effizienter machen soll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parallel laufen bei Apples Fertigungspartner Foxconn die Vorbereitungen: Kuo zufolge ist eine Vorserienproduktion ab Mitte 2025 geplant, das Projekt k\u00f6nnte Ende Q3 oder Anfang Q4 2025 offiziell starten. Unklar bleibt weiterhin die Ausgestaltung des Scharniers \u2014 ein zentrales Bauteil f\u00fcr die Haltbarkeit eines Foldables. Solange die Scharnierl\u00f6sung nicht final ist, lassen sich keine endg\u00fcltigen Prototypen bauen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apple plant offenbar keine extremen St\u00fcckzahlen f\u00fcr das iPhone Fold: Kuo nennt Bestellungen in einer Gr\u00f6\u00dfenordnung von 15 bis 20 Millionen Ger\u00e4ten. Bei einem erwarteten Preis von rund 2.000 Euro d\u00fcrfte das Modell eher ein Premium-Nischenprodukt bleiben. Zum Vergleich: Vom iPhone 16 verkaufte Apple allein im vierten Quartal 2024 knapp 77 Millionen Einheiten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Der Markt f\u00fcr Foldables w\u00e4chst moderat: Statista prognostiziert f\u00fcr 2025 etwa 27,6 Millionen verkaufte Foldables weltweit (gegen\u00fcber 25 Millionen im Vorjahr). Bis 2027 k\u00f6nnte der Absatz auf rund 48,1 Millionen steigen \u2014 ein Markt, in dem das iPhone Fold dann einen merklichen Anteil ausmachen k\u00f6nnte.
